The Hop Farm

As living in the UK we don’t always have the best weather for activities outdoors so luckily when it is a rainy miserable day the Hop Farm offers indoor activities. One indoor attraction they offer is the Hop museum which has only been opened recently and offers insight of how the Hop Farm was used after the second world war. There are two indoor play areas for under 3s and for ages between 3-9 with a café on the side which offers food and drink. There is also a magic castle which will let children immerse into the life of a magician their selves, even Harry Potter. The Hop Farm also offers a range of function rooms for parties, events even weddings. With the glorious scenery that the Hop Farm offer it is a inviting place for different events. The Hop Farm even offers a campsite location which allows you to explore 500 acres of the beautiful area, brand new washrooms with a shop, cafes and restaurants.

Tour Around the Weald of Kent

If you are looking for a good way to visit places in Kent then this tour allows you to go at your own pace in your own vehicle and really soak up why Kent is called “The garden of England”. In this tour around the Kent countryside you’ll see beautiful views which are even more spectacular on a hot sunny day. You will drive past orchards, hop fields and quaint towns giving you many photograph opportunities. The tour starts in Tunbridge Wells, goes through Pembury right down towards to Sissinghurst Castle garden when you go back on yourself towards Hawkhurst, Bewl Water to finish at The Pantiles.

Leeds Castle

Leeds Castle is always a favourite when choosing places to visit in Kent. The castle was used by Henry VIII and many other monarchs. The castle was built in 1119, over 900 years old and how it’s been maintained over the years is remarkable. As well as the castle itself you can explore the gatehouse exhibition which gives you a great look into the history of the last 900 years. Leeds Castle holds events throughout the year which include an open air cinema, the yearly Leeds castle concert, Guy Fawkes night and many more. They hold rooms and suites for private events and weddings. In the castle grounds they also have a luxury 9 hole golf course which allows you to tee off with these great surroundings and lets you explore the grounds in a different way if you choose too. Leeds Castle also gives you the opportunity to stay over in different locations and buildings around the grounds, if you aren’t feeling like staying inside you can spend the night in the “knights glamping” area. For young children there are attractions such as an adventure golf area alongside a large playground.

Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway

This railway line is where many steam locomotive trains run through and gives you the opportunity to ride them and explore the Kent countryside. They hold events throughout the year such like mothers and fathers day events which both events even allow them to drive a world famous steam train. At each station there are cafes or restaurants to have a break between train rides. At the New Romney station there is a heritage centre which gives some background information about the stations which goes back to 1927. Another attraction is the model railways exhibition which is possibly the biggest model railway in England, which is a true sight to behold. The New Romney station is licensed as a approved premises which allows them to hold weddings which would be an extraordinary type of wedding and no like other.

Canterbury Cathedral

Another top place to visit in Kent is Canterbury Cathedral which truly is an extraordinary architectural building, of course it being the home to the leader of the Church of England; the Archbishop of Canterbury. As well as it being a place for regular worship for the local people, they also give you the opportunity to walk around the cathedral and discover the amazing structural design that was built over 1,400 years. If you wish to have some guidance whilst walking, there are some guided tours for the Cathedral and surrounding areas. The archives and library are also part of the Cathedral which holds masses of manuscripts, historic records, photographs, maps and printed books, a really interesting insight to this amazing history.
