October Newsletter

Welcome to our October Newsletter!

Hello and welcome to our October newsletter. We were very fortunate to have some glorious weather and there were lots of things happening across Kent and people were enjoying the late Indian Summer.

In this issue

We will be covering Networking with a difference, Halloween, Fireworks, Getting ready for Christmas, Push notifications, New partners, what’s new, Kent construction expo and much more!

Networking with a difference

First of all, we would like thank all of our amazing partners and everyone who came along and joined us onboard The Kentish Lady for our very first Networking Event with a difference. We set sail from the Malta and sailed up the Medway passing through Maidstone up to East Farleigh where we turned around and then sailed back to the Malta again. Time went so quickly, and we all had a great time.

We would also like to say a very big thank you to our Partners The Smarter Energy Group who sponsored the event and to the team at The Kentish Lady for making sure all our guests had a wonderful evening!

We have received some lovely messages to say what a great time was had and of course it was great to build some good business connections as well. Keep your eyes peeled for when we plan our next event!

Halloween and Firework Category

We are now approaching the Halloween and Firework season, so if you have any events coming up, then please do add them onto your profile. We also have a special Halloween Category so this is an ideal place to promote your events. Also, If you are not currently a partner and have some events that you wish to promote to the people of Kent, then this would be an ideal time to join What’s on in Kent.

Please get in touch with one of the team at sales@whatsoninkent.com.

Getting ready for Christmas?

It won’t be long before Christmas will be here. We know many of our partners will be having all sorts of events and special offers that they wish to promote. If you still have availability for Christmas bookings or if you have space for Christmas parties then do add these to your profile, or if you want to promote what you have going on then email us at sales@whatsoninkent.com.

Some attractions are not included in the ticket but proceeds from Father Christmas & his grotto are helping to raise money for children's homes and funds raised from the Dog Father Christmas are helping to support dog rescues.

New Partners

We would like to wish a warm welcome to some of our new partners. Below is a list of some of them with a brief description of what they can offer.

The Blue Anchor

Kent & East Sussex Railway

Travel Back in Time & Escape the Modern World.

The railway you see today at 10½ miles in length is a fine example of one of England’s light railways and originally part of a larger system which operated between Headcorn and Robertsbridge.

The K&ESR was the very first 'light railway' to be constructed: light railways are equipped with full size trains, but have steep gradients and operate at low speed.

Passenger trains ran from 1900 until 1954 but an ambitious scheme to reopen the railway from Tenterden was proposed, although it was not until 1974 that the first trains were able to run on a short section of line. The registered charity that now owns and operates the line was able to finally restore services to Bodiam in time for the centenary of the line in 2000: today the K&ESR welcomes around 90,000 people each year.

Sinden Theatre

The Sinden is a 290-seated venue located within the grounds of Homewood School in Tenterden, in the heart of the Weald.

Opened in 2004, the venue is named after its patron, actor and former local resident, the late Sir Donald Sinden CBE.

Huckleberry Woods

Huckleberry Woods is a small, rustic farm devoted to micro and miniature animals.

It’s located in a small and rustic, private orchard in the beautiful Kent countryside, and is charming and understated rather than large, slick and commercial. It’s not the sort of place where you rush between loads of animal enclosures, vending machines, and other distractions.

Pick Your own Pumpkins

Pick Your own Pumpkins are based in Sevington near Ashford, so if you are down that way why not pay them a visit and choose your own special pumpkins.

Get hunting for the GOLDEN pumpkin! Each day we hide a 'gold' and 'silver' pumpkin on the field. If you find the gold pumpkin you win your wheelbarrow full of pumpkins for free. If you find the silver pumpkin you get your largest pumpkin for free! HAPPY HUNTING.

Fort Amherst

Commanding the Heights for 250 years

Fort Amherst is a free-to-visit historical site the whole family can enjoy, with 20 acres of green space all linked to the Great Lines Heritage Park. There is a charge for tunnel tours and some special events.

The Friars Aylesford Christmas Fayre

Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd December, 10 am – 4pm.

Fantastic weekend of seasonal entertainment; craft and gift stalls; Santa and festive land train. There is something for everyone and this is a great way to begin the festive period and support a local charity too.

When: Sat 02 12 2023 at 10:00 am

Our three main exhibition halls are ideal for creating stunning exhibitions, trade fairs or public space, with six smaller meeting rooms that can accommodate up to 120 guests. From a 2-person interview to an outdoor concert for 30,000, we have the perfect space to suit your event.

Rye Arts Festival

The Festival is Rye’s principal annual arts event. It has developed over the past 51 years into one of the most successful and respected small festivals of its kind, dedicated to high-quality performances in music, literature, theatre and other art forms coupled with a range of activities in heritage and the environment.
