Communigrow - Reconnecting you to food and nature

We are an educational and horticultural charity based in East Malling/Ditton, helping local people reconnect with food and nature. As Kent’s leading horticultural and educational charity, we are committed to reconnecting people with chemical-free produce and the outdoor environment. Since 2014, we have been providing people with an opportunity to learn new skills, meet people, and build their confidence in a unique and welcoming environment. With the help of a dedicated team of volunteers, we grow and harvest a wide selection of chemical-free vegetables on-site for our local community.

We offer volunteering sessions (Mon-Fri, 10am-2pm – weather dependent). There are also other activities part of our educational and wellbeing programs; and seasonal workshops for adults and young people (these are advertised on our social media channels). We also offer a Veg Box scheme that has proved very popular as people have sought alternative ways to access chemical-free produce locally. The scheme will start again in April 2022.

How to support us

Volunteer with us: Our volunteers are amazing – and you could be one too! From supporting our growing activities at the field to providing help with our website and administrative tasks, there are a range of ways that you could positively contribute to Communigrow. Some roles require specialist skills, but most only require enthusiasm and an interest in horticulture, wellbeing and/or sustainability. If you would like to pay us a visit or offer a helping hand, email volunteer@communigrow.org.uk to book a slot in advance or request further information.

Join our Veg Box Scheme All our veg box produce is grown onsite, without using herbicides or pesticides, and is available from April to December. By purchasing our produce you can support the charity to run our educational and well-being sessions for various local community groups. We invite everyone who places an order to visit the Communigrow field, have a tour of the field and collect their veg box. Call 075 4643 7272 or email vegbox@communigrow.org.uk to register your interest.

Donate We wouldn’t be here now without the generous support of individuals, companies and charity trusts. You can visit our donation page to raise funds to deliver more educational sessions and reach more communities.

Online Shopping You can support us when you shop online and help us to raise money for our project. Visit Easyfundraising or smile.amazon.com and follow the instructions. It is free, safe and secure. Donations will be made when you use these to shop online at no extra cost to you.

Corporate Support We welcome new corporate partners to create mutually beneficial relationships. Communigrow sessions can make a huge difference and allow businesses to support the community and demonstrate Corporate Social Responsibility values to employees, clients and suppliers. Spending a beautiful day at Communigrow, supporting a project or helping with growing tasks can make great team building sessions and volunteering days for small groups of employees.

Spread the Word and Become a Friend Help us to get more people to know about Communigrow, not only to those who may become friends/donors but also to prospective volunteers and users of our services. Word of mouth is one of the best recommendations there is, and our supporters are the best advocates we have! Subscribe on our website to receive the newsletter with updates on the dates of our events, plus any fundraising opportunities.
