TODS presents "Ladies' Day" by Amanda Whittington

Pearl, Jan, Shelly and Linda work together in a fish factory in Hull. It’s 2005, the year that Royal Ascot relocated to York, and for Pearl’s retirement they decide to swap their factory clothes and hair nets for posh dresses and fascinators and go to Ladies’ Day.
They put money on an accumulator and as they champagne flows their secrets and heart-warming stories surface and it becomes clear why winning the money would be life-changing for them all.
By the end of the afternoon, fascinators slip, stilettos come off, and the accumulator almost wins them the money, but not quite, and they return to reality and work the next day.
