Rainy Day Activities with Kids

It’s hard to keep the kids occupied when it’s raining no matter what age they are!

To help you out we have come up with a few different activities for kids to do from age 2+. There’s something for everyone – the whole family can get involved too!

Rainy Day Activities for Kids aged 2+ -

Rainy Walks: Why not go on a rainy walk so the kids can jump in muddy puddles. This activity is so fun for kids, and it gets them outside, even if the weather is a little rainy. The dogs can join in too! Make sure they are wearing their raincoat!

Indoor Soft Play Centres: Indoor soft play centres are such a great idea for rainy days. The kids can run around for an hour or two and then have some lunch at the café on site.

Trampoline Parks: Indoor trampoline parks are suitable for kids of all ages. They ensure the kids are getting enough exercise during these rainy summer days. Swap the TV screen for a bouncy trampoline park!

Museums: Museums are fascinating places; they inspire kids and adults alike. They are crucial to educating children and teens in fun and engaging ways.

Cinemas: With lockdown easing we are now allowed to watch newly released films on the big screen. The kids can enjoy some popcorn and sweets whilst watching the latest film. Cinemas show films suitable for all ages so even those tricky teens will be able to find something they like!

Swimming Centres: The summer holidays have started but the weather isn’t feeling very summery! With the travel restrictions still in place, going swimming will feel like the holidays have started. Swimming is fun for everyone – the whole family can even join in.

Roller Skating: There are many places to go and roller skate around the county. Roller discos are particularly popular as you get to skate around to all the latest songs with colourful lights – it makes it more exciting!

Ice Skating: When the weather is cold and miserable outside, why not make it colder but considerably less miserable with a trip to an ice rink? Even if you aren't the most elegant person on the ice this will surely be a funny day out for your kids to remember!

Bowling: A game of classic ten-pin bowling is a great thing to do on a rainy day out because it brings the whole family together. All modern bowling lanes have child-friendly features to help even the tiniest bowlers score a strike, so everyone will have a great time. Many bowling centres offer additional activities such as arcade games. After a game of bowling, you can all enjoy some food at the restaurant on site!
