Enveloped in the Kent countryside and a stones throw from the coast, we serve locally sourced, seasonal food in a relaxed and welcoming setting.

Built in circa 1610, our historic building naturally lends itself to the atmospheric drinking & dining spaces on offer - whether wiling away the hours by one of our three fireplaces, or enjoying a meal in our vaulted dining room.

The owners have endeavoured to retain and enhance the Inn's period features through loving restoration & careful curation of curios, antiques & art - the result is a contemporary take on the traditional inn, a convivial place to be.

Our gardens wrap around the building, a total sun trap. They're the perfect, peaceful spot to enjoy al fresco dining, or a relaxed afternoon with great company.

For cooler climates, we have a traditionally crafted oak-framed heated shelter & wood-fired chimnea to keep you warm & comfortable.

The Wendy House is a local landmark and filled with memories - with adults returning and recalling their times playing there as children.

Set in the picturesque village of Martin, nestled between Deal, Dover and the beaches of St Margaret's-at-Cliffe & Kingsdown. Each of The Lantern's accommodation options offer the perfect base for immersing yourself in the Kent countryside and exploring the coast.

At The Lantern Inn, we support British farmers and artisan producers and our restaurant menu reflects this. Whether you're dining in at our Dover restaurant or taking away our woodfired pizza, food from our bar menu, or Sunday roasts. We serve seriously good food, in an unserious way.
